Inpatient Services

Medical Ward

The Medical Ward of the DHMVK is staffed with specialised skilled nursing and support staff to provide nursing care to non-surgical patients. The Department accommodates patients requiring further medical investigation, treatment and cure of any disease under the spectrum of the medical specialties.

Surgical Ward including Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmology

Patients on a surgical ward are receiving pre and post-op treatments. Their care can involve surgeons and other kinds of specialists. Patients on a medical ward receive care unrelated to any stage of a surgical procedure.

At the most fundamental level, a surgical unit or facility is a place where surgeries are performed. It may also be a place where patients are cared for and treated before or after the surgery.

The medical device implants play an important role in the eye as well as ear, nose, and throat in physiological as well as pathological conditions. In ophthalmology, right from the external structure of the eye to the interior, various implants were used.

Maternity Ward

A maternity hospital specializes in caring for women during pregnancy and childbirth. It also provides care for newborn infants, and may act as a centre for clinical training in midwifery and obstetrics.

Children’s Ward

Childrens Ward provides care and treatment for children and young people. The Children's Unit provides hospital care for all babies, children and young people from a few days old up to the age of 16 (or older for children with special needs).

Operating Rooms

The operating room (OR) is the location where surgical procedures are performed. It’s a sterile environment intended to prevent infection during the surgical procedure. ORs are also brightly lit to ensure surgeons can see what they are doing and air-conditioned to further prevent infection. ORs can vary based on the type of surgery they accommodate, with the equipment in the operating room matching the needs of the surgical team.
